Proper attire for those being called to the bimah at Beth Haverim Shir Shalom

The following guidelines are intended to help members and guests dress appropriately when they are called to the bimah for an honor at Beth Haverim Shir Shalom.  There are many situations in our lives when we are expected to dress appropriately.  Most schools have dress codes that define what types of clothes may be worn to school.  When participating in organized sports, players are required to wear the team's uniform.  Adults are expected to wear formal business attire when going on an interview or to an important business meeting.  There are parties and special events were we are expected to wear formal evening clothes.  So, too, when we are called to the bimah we should be appropriately dressed according to the Jewish values of modesty and respect. The following are the expectations regarding attire for those who are to be called to the bimah:

Wear blouses and tops that cover the midriff, back and shoulders.

We have an honor we'd like to extend to you!
Each Shabbat morning, our Ritual Committee has reserved English and Hebrew honors for members of our congregation. Please e-mail the office in advance of your attendance at services so that we can slot you in for a special honor. Help us make Shabbat mornings even more warm and welcoming!
