A WISH LIST FOR BETH HAVERIM
It is almost one year since we dedicated our beautiful new sanctuary and temple life goes on apace. Meanwhile, our Decorating Committee, Marci Weinberg, Gail Wichler, Kim Pressman and I, have been working hard to finish some of the details. The Ark has its curtain and a beautiful velvet interior; the Rabbi and Cantor's lecterns have matching velvet covers, the table on which the Shabbat candlesticks stand harmonizes with these and with the Bimah chairs, and so on. I hope that those of you who have been away for the summer will come to temple soon and admire these things. Recently, through the generosity of two families, we have been given two exceptional gifts; the menorahs which have been mounted on the stone walls in the sanctuary, and two more lavaliere microphones.
That brings me to the real reason for this article. As Kehilah Chair, I have been asked to oversee the formation of a WISH LIST for our temple. Our past president, Harvey Weinberg and I co-chair the Kehilah Campaign which raised more than $1,500,000 towards the building of our new sanctuary and school. However, there are still many things both big and small that we need to enhance temple life. These things can be beautiful or practical or both. You will find a list of these items below.
We hope that many of you will celebrate good fortune, remember loved ones or just feel especially connected to one area of synagogue life and will donate or sponsor an item from this Wish List. You can have your gift reported in Temple Topics or remain anonymous. Finally, larger gifts, those above $1,800, will be recorded on a small plaque.
