The Michelle Mitzvah Group and Junior Choir at Blythedale Children's Hospital - Magic in the Air.

What an afternoon we had!  This year’s summer party at Blythedale Children’s Hospital was an amazing event.  Thanks to the Junior Choir and Cantor Perper,  the children at Blythedale were smiling from cheek to cheek.  From the moment we arrived until the party ended, the energy level was at full throttle.  We sang songs, danced, clapped hands, laughed and smiled with the children.  Our clowns “Oy Fay” and “Yo Johnnie” were at their best.  Besides clowning around in their usual style, they did wonderful face painting and made the kids very happy.  The art project coordinated by Sandy Arlington was a big hit and the digital and instant photos were again enjoyed by all.

Imagine kids in wheelchairs gathered around Cantor Perper  and the Junior Choir singing and clapping to Jewish melodies, songs from Disney, Old MacDonald, and other hits.  We all smiled when the young children were mouthing words in Hebrew even though they had no idea what they were singing.  It didn’t matter.  What did matter was the incredible feeling of love and togetherness we all had standing there for those few precious moments.  The highlight of the afternoon was when Cantor led us in song and dance to Hava Negillah.  We did the hora in a big circle pushing the children in their wheelchairs.  There is nothing that can top that!

The Michelle Mitzvah Group thanks everyone that participated in this magical afternoon.  Every one of you is a Mitzvah hero.  You brought happiness to children who otherwise do not have much of that in their lives.  For that, you should be proud.
