My name is Cantor David Lessner Perper and I have been serving BHSS for five years as Cantor and Music Director. My work is focused on teaching and preparing and leading spirited, moving worship. I am grateful to God to allow me the opportunity to do this work in wonderful partnership with my teacher and friend Rabbi Joel Mosbacher. Together with the Music Committee and the leadership of this sacred community, our music programs have been expanding, we've been attracting some of Jewish music's brightest stars to teach and perform with and for us. Such stars as Rick Recht, Debbie Friedman and most recently Peter and Ellen Allard. It is, in large part, your constant giving and donations to my Discretionary Fund that allow us to bring you these talents.
Both the Junior and Adult choirs had a successful recruitment season at the beginning of the school year and new members are fitting right in:)
This congregation's service and devotion to its musical legacy are clear. In fact, a couple of years back we actually expanded our bima to accommodate the increased numbers in the adult choir.
As I begin a new contract, I am reminded how lucky I am to work with such wonderful and committed musical Jews. I want thank Rabbi, Evelyn McGilloway and Nora Berger, the BHSS Music Committee, and our entire staff, for their love, their time, and their tireless efforts in helping me lead and inspire.
