Cantor David Lessner Perper, began serving Beth Haverim Shir Shalom in 2006. His life is focused on teaching, leading worship, study, community service, and most importantly, his loving wife Cantor Faith Steinsnyder. He also works to further his career as a professional vocalist. He holds degrees from Montgomery College, Rockville, MD, The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, and a Master of Sacred Music degree and Cantorial Investiture (1996) from the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion’s School of Sacred Music in New York City. David has served communities in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Toronto, Canada, Maryland and Washington, DC. Some of his credits include: Featured Cantor at the Gala Concert of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations Biennial Convention, Soloist with the Lewandowsky Choir at the Amsterdam Jewish Music Festival, concerts and master classes with The American Conference of Cantors (Reform) and The Cantors Assembly (Conservative) national conventions, and for the last 6 years, the North American Jewish Choral Music Festival in upstate New York. David has also sung major roles in regional opera houses here in the U.S., and has performed in Israel, Austria, Germany and Italy. His latest international credits came during the summer of 2009. He was invited to sing at the Krakow Jewish Music Festival, the largest festival of Jewish Music in the world. His audience of 15,000 was quite enthusiastic. The very next day, David sang at the Krakow Philharmonic Hall in "The Great American Songbook" in honor of the 4th of July.
